Director Drug Discovery, PROTAC Drugs

 

Position Summary:

Do you like to explore frontiers of biology to discover breakthrough therapies and first-in-class drugs?  Ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) and protein targeting chimera (PROTAC) drugs provides a challenge as a new wave of drugs are emerging from this pathway www.progenra.com. Progenra Inc. a biotech company located in suburbs of Philadelphia PA, has open positions. Director of drug discovery to Senior Scientists are expected to translate the cellular mechanisms of enzymes that act on ubiquitin into novel and efficacious therapies for a broad spectrum of diseases including immune oncology, inflammation, and neurodegeneration such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Knowledge in cell and molecular biology, expertise in assay development, biophysical evaluation of proteins is an advantage. The senior scientist occupies a leadership position on a team to develop drug discovery technologies. He/she will write scientific articles and patents, and present data at national and international meetings.

Requirements: Ph.D. in a Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Pharmacology

    • 0-10+ years of laboratory experience in an academic, industrial or drug discovery setting
    • Experience in biochemistry, structural biology, cell and or molecular biology is required
    • Knowledge of the UPS is desirable but not essential
    • Experience in the field of cell signal transduction
    • Write scholarly papers, patents and provide intellectual leadership for the company
    • Demonstrated record of achievement through publications in high profile journals
    • Communication, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
    • Experience in assay development and high throughput screening is a plus

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Provide day-to-day leadership in R&D that mirrors the Progenra strategic plan

    • Develop innovative technologies to assay UPS enzymes and discover novel drugs
    • Apply expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or Medicinal chemistry
    • Play major roles in Progenra’s industry and academic collaborations
    • Publish scientific articles and file patent applications, represent Progenra in national conferences

Senior Scientist Biophysicist /Structural Biologist

Senior Scientists are expected to apply biophysical techniques to interrogate PROTAC drugs that target ubiquitin proteasome system for novel and efficacious therapies for a broad spectrum of diseases including immune oncology, inflammation, and neurodegeneration such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Knowledge of biophysics and structural biology, expertise in computational modeling of protein small molecule interactions, molecular biology, and biophysical evaluation of proteins is an advantage. The senior scientist occupies a leadership position on a team to develop drug discovery technologies. He/she will write scientific articles and patents, and present data at national and international meetings.

 

Requirements: Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Biophysics, Structural Biology or Biochemistry

    • 0-10+ years of laboratory experience in an academic, industrial or drug discovery setting

    • Knowledge of biophysical and biochemical assays using thermos-melting for proteins and surface plasma resonance (SPR) methodology
    • Ability to apply software tools to model protein structure and function
    • Write scholarly papers, patents and provide intellectual leadership for the company
    • Demonstrated record of achievement through publications in high profile journals
    • Communication, troubleshooting, and organizational skills

Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Establish structure based and biophysical approaches to analyze small molecule-protein interaction
    • Perform computational molecular modeling and simulations to accelerate the design and development of high quality, novel small molecule therapeutics.
    • Develop innovative technologies to assay UPS enzymes and discover novel drugs
    • Apply expertise in biophysics, protein chemistry, structural biology, and or Medicinal chemistry
