Progenra Inc. is a biotechnology company dedicated to discover novel medicines for variety of diseases by targeting the ubiquitin system, an emerging cellular pathway that plays a critical role in cell growth, development and disease. Progenra has developed unique assay platform and compound profiling capability to identify selective inhibitors that target ubiquitin pathway enzymes. Description: As a medicinal chemist you will apply state of the art synthetic chemistry, structural and computational approaches to discover and synthesize novel medicines for a variety of diseases including immuno-oncology, inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases. Research Scientist will independently plan and implement efficient synthetic routes for target compounds and apply state of the art purification and characterization techniques, conduct research with the drug discovery team to develop SAR, analyze the data and write laboratory reports. Position provides opportunities to grow, write papers and patents, and present data at internal, national and international meetings.
Qualifications/Requirements: BS/ MS/ Ph.D in organic/medicinal chemistry with 0-10 years’ experience working in a medicinal chemistry laboratory setting with expertise in lead optimization and SAR evolution. Strong synthetic organic chemistry background is required with experience in applicable analytical chemistry/purification chemistry techniques (NMR, HPLC, LC-MS). Experience with a broad range of synthetic transformations for project execution and excellent verbal and written communication and skills for effective drug discovery team participation is required. Experience with molecular modeling and structure-based drug design is a plus. Established track record of working well in a team setting and a demonstrated understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, as evidenced by a record of achievement (publications, presentations, patents, etc.) are desired. Demonstration of advanced level of understanding of project goals and methods for senior candidates is also desired. Knowledge of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway is a plus.
